The Fall Graduation Ceremony was held on September 10, 2022. This ceremony, for undergraduates and graduate students, was held in the Sky Hall of Boissonade Tower.
As was done last year, the ceremony was held on a smaller scale due to the spread of COVID-19. However, by live streaming, those who were unable to attend in person, were able to participate in the ceremony, from all over the world.
“As you know, the Hosei University Charter is “Practical Wisdom for Freedom”. As our experience of the past two and a half years has taught us, there are times when the freedom to live one’s life as one wishes is so easily constrained that it seems completely impossible to resist. If we remain passive, our freedom can easily be lost due to those restrictions. The charter contains the message that it is essential to have the wisdom to manage, to survive freedom, in the face of constraints. Those of you who experienced the transition from student life before COVID-19 to student life under COVID-19 and managed to complete your student life by coping with the rapid changes in your own way should have cultivated the basics of this “Practical Wisdom”. It is more deeply rooted in you than you are aware of. Through developing and utilizing it, you will surely obtain something important for yourselves someday.” said President Hirose at the graduation ceremony.
